We’re currently rolling out a new design. Let us know what you think at the bottom.

Abandoned vehicle removal

We aim to remove vehicles that are abandoned in Hackney as soon as is legally possible. There are different procedures for removal based on the vehicle’s condition and location.

If you report an abandoned vehicle, we will investigate within 5 days of receiving the complaint. It will then take a minimum of 4 weeks to remove and dispose of it (unless it is burnt out).

The following will usually indicate that a vehicle has been abandoned:

  • not moved for a long period of time
  • rusty brake discs
  • flat tyres/broken windows
  • being burnt out
  • general condition of deterioration

Untaxed vehicles should be reported directly to the DVLA as we no longer deal with them.
