Allens Gardens

The gardens are one of Hackney’s more unusual green spaces, hidden away behind Bethune Road in Stoke Newington. The gardens have a natural character, with mature yew trees and areas of woodland edge interspersed with grass and play features.

The gardens are also home to Growing Communities, a food growing social enterprise. Growing Communities are always keen for help in the garden so visit their website if you would like to volunteer.

The gardens were not always a park. Find out more about the history of the gardens.

Allens Gardens user group

A park user group has been set up with a view to promoting and improving the gardens. If you have an interest in the gardens or are just keen to find out a bit more about Stoke Newington’s hidden park then visit their Facebook page.

Barbecues are not allowed in Allens Gardens.

Dogs are excluded from the play area in Allens Gardens. Council officers have the power to request that dogs are put on leads if they’re behaving aggressively, causing damage, or if their owner does not have appropriate control over them.
