We’re currently rolling out a new design. Let us know what you think at the bottom.
Changes to fees
Following cabinet approval the we’ve issued the following increase in fees, in accordance with the Building (Local Authority Charges) Regulations 2010.
Our primary function is to make sure that buildings are properly designed and constructed to ensure the health, safety, welfare and convenience of people in or around buildings. Whatever the nature of your project we can help you manage it from concept to completion.
Domestic building work
We are here to help you from start to finish, guaranteeing the improvements you make are safe, secure and sustainable.
There are three types of building control applications: a Full Plans application, a Building Notice application and a Regularisation application.
Street naming and numbering
If you wish to name or number a new development, or change the name or number of an existing property, you will need to apply to the Council.
Property information enquiries
We provide this service to respond to historic building control queries on properties, such as previous applications for building works and potential Local Land Charges on the property.
If you wish to demolish a building or a part of a building, you must advise us in writing at least six weeks before the work is carried out.
Dangerous structures and public safety
We have statutory duties to ensure that all structures within the borough that are considered dangerous are made safe within the shortest period of time possible.
Regulations, exemptions, warranties and other guidance
Find out about the Building Regulations, whether your works are exempt from the regulations, Local Authority Building Control Warranties and other guidance which might help you with your application.
