Furniture, electricals and bulky waste collections

There are 4 waste and recycling centres near Hackney which residents can use free of charge. You can take a range of household waste items to the sites, including unusable furniture, garden waste, electrical appliances, scrap metal and textiles. You can also arrange for items to be collected free of charge via websites like Freecycle and Gumtree.

Donate your pre-loved furniture

If you’ve got furniture you don’t want that’s in a reusable condition, why not donate it to Homestore? They’ll collect it and sell it at an affordable price to families on low incomes. Your furniture needs to be:

  1. in good condition
  2. not dirty or damaged
  3. not dismantled or flat packed
  4. not left outside for collection – someone must be available to hand over the furniture

Divan beds, sofas or other soft furnishings must have a fire safety label.
