Citizenship ceremonies

If your application to become a British citizen is successful, and you are 18 or over, you are required by law to attend a citizenship ceremony.

At the ceremony you will receive a naturalisation certificate, which proves you are a British citizen with the right to have a British passport and to vote. Once you are a British citizen, you can also live and work anywhere in the European Union.
