Hackney Pride 365
For the first time ever last year the Council flew the rainbow flag over the Town Hall, coinciding with the launch of Hackney Pride 365 festival to celebrate the borough’s historic, diverse and boundary-breaking LGBTQI+ community.
The festival runs all year round, with community-led events that include everything from gardening clubs to club nights at some of Hackney’s most well-loved venues and outdoor spaces, bringing together the local community to inspire new collaborations in future years. The events planned were developed from over a hundred suggestions from residents and activists who attended an LGBT History Month event at Hackney Museum.
Keep up to date with LGBTQI+ events around Hackney by following the Hackney Pride 365 Facebook page page or searching #Pride365 on Twitter.
If you’ve got any ideas about the events, or you’d like to host something or start a project as part of Hackney Pride 365, please email: firstname.lastname@example.org or call: 020 8356 3261. If you’d like to help Hackney Museum build its LBGTQI+ history collection, you can donate personal records and artefacts, or share memories via the their Historypin page.

Museum staff are calling on residents to share their records, artefacts and memories as part of a drive to develop the museum’s LGBT+ history collection. They’ve created an online map of LGBT+ (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender plus) history, which you can contribute to by highlighting times and places where personal or significant LGBT+ history was made, and they’ll be training volunteers in the skills needed to record residents’ oral histories. More information about what’s on at Hackney Museum.
Throughout February all eight of Hackney’s libraries hosted LGBT+ book stalls, highlighting LGBT+ authors and stories. More information about what’s on at Hackney Libraries.
