We’re currently rolling out a new design. Let us know what you think at the bottom.
Parking bay suspension
A suspension temporarily prohibits anyone else using a parking bay (or multiple bays) within a controlled parking zone. If you need a space reserved for a particular reason, you’ll need a suspension.
What can suspensions be granted for?
You can suspend a single bay or a group of bays. Suspended bays are indicated by yellow warning signs erected as near to the suspended location as possible. We aim to put them up at least 3 days in advance.
Suspensions can be granted for:
- statutory utilities work (gas, water or electricity)
- construction / engineering / vehicles access
- highway improvements
- local events
Suspensions are charged at a daily rate plus an administration fee. We need a minimum of 7 working days’ notice to process an application.
Applications received outside of this 7 day period may still be considered, but you must explain why you’re applying at short notice.
If you need a suspension on multiple roads, you’ll need to submit a separate application for each road. All applications are subject to an approval process.
Please read the terms and conditions before applying.
Please note: we can’t accept telephone or postal applications.
We charge a £75 administration fee for each suspension (regardless of how long you want it for or how many spaces you need) plus £25 per space, per day.
All applications must be received at least 7 working days before the date you want the suspension to start.
If your application is received outside of this 7 day period an additional administration fee of £75 (£150 in total) is chargeable for each suspension.
Please see the terms and conditions for more details.
Removing or relocating vehicles parked in suspended bays
If you’re applying for a suspension
We’ll suspend the area you’ve requested or an equivalent area nearby, and we’ll notify our enforcement contractor. We put up warning notices around 3 days before the suspension starts – but we can’t guarantee the area will be kept clear.
If there are vehicles parked in the suspended bays, it’s your responsibility to contact us and request enforcement:
- Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm: 020 8356 8290 / 5pm to 8.45pm: 020 8356 7555
- Saturday, 7.30am to 8.30pm: 020 8356 7555
- Sunday, 8.15am to 4.30pm: 020 8356 7555
The speed of the response will depend on our enforcement officers’ location and when you make the request.
If the vehicle is parked in contravention a penalty charge notice will be issued and if possible the vehicle will be removed. We can’t guarantee that all vehicles will be removed, due to rare circumstances out of our control.
It’s an offence to park in a suspended bay – contravening vehicles may be issued a penalty charge notice (parking fine) or be moved to either an alternative location or our car pound in Edmonton. If you think your vehicle’s been removed or relocated from a suspended bay please see vehicle removal.
Suspension signs are created according to the department of transport regulations. If you’ve arranged for a suspension but the signs are missing on the day of the suspension, contact us on 0208 356 8290 or email firstname.lastname@example.org as soon as possible.
We’ll attempt to replace missing suspension signs but can’t guarantee we’ll be able to do so on the same day.
Your continued use of the service means you agree to be legally bound by these terms and conditions. Please note that the Council may change these terms and will post changes on this page. While we will try and keep returning customers updated, from time to time you will need to review these terms to ensure you are aware of any changes.
