Volunteering in parks

Getting involved in your local green space is a great way to get out, get some exercise and meet new people. There’s a whole range of projects taking place in Hackney’s parks that you can get involved in, such as food-growing, physical activities, gardening, and nature sessions.

Regular opportunities

Abney Park

Every Thursday 10am – 2pm

Join us for our regular Thursday community volunteering days. Meet at the South Lodge by the gates on Stoke Newington High Street at 9.30am for a cup of tea and then join us in our work conserving and improving the landscape at Abney Park. Activities include:

  • gardening near the main entrance
  • building new paths out in the Park
  • clearing unwanted plants from front-row graves and sowing wild flower seed

We welcome everyone but please email before volunteering for the first time.
