West Bank cycle lane

Update on Cycle Superhighway 1

De Beauvoir area (from Downham Road to Balls Pond Road)

Englefield Road / Culford Road

Design for a parallel pedestrian and cycle crossing has been prepared and will be ready for formal public consultation during late summer 2018. As part of the design, we will also consider relocating the Culford Road and Ardleigh Road closures.

Stoke Newington Church Street to Holmdale Terrace

Following last year’s public consultation, the Council will be introducing a protected cycle lane on West Bank to make this section of Cycle Superhighway 1 safer and more appealing for cyclists.

Work to construct the cycle lane and double yellow lines will begin at the end of June. As part of the work, we’ll also be trimming back the overgrown foliage along the route, which will support the East and West Bank Nature Reserve by making it more visible and attractive to the local community.

We are investigating options to improve safety around Dunsmure Parade, and will be building a protected crossing at the junction of Manor Road and Bouverie / Heathland Road, subject to resolving technical issues.
